No offense but this is why we need to vote for Obama, I'm just 20yrs old and gas prices are so high I have to consolidate my trips for groceries, laundry, and other errands to save dollar bills and we have some folks blowing mortgage on poker, booze, and parties. Again I mean no disrespect to your lifestyle but we need CHANGE!!!

Don't fret it, you are still only 20 years old. A few years changes everything. Make the right choices and get into a decent line of work and you will be fine. Don't make purchases you can't afford and if you worry about gas you better be driving a car, not a truck. That being said, unlike what we have been told all our lives, we are not all equals. Some people are smart, some are average, some are dumbasses. That is just how it is. Smarter people have a better chance to succeed and make good ammounts of money. The other side of this is some people are blessed with better situations/upbringing than other people. They also have a better chance to succeed. Now, if you are dumb with poor parents, you can still succeed, you just need to work hard for it. Basically, I believe that you have to work hard, work smart, make smart choices and purchases, and be patient. I wish I could win the lottery and be rich tomorrow, unfortunatly it hasn't happened yet and I work for a living. That is everyones dream. You having to consolidate your trips, you aren't alone on that, I have to and I'm sure Joker isn't comfortable with gas prices. Some people can spend more money on certain things because they have already taken care of others, or other things aren't a priority. Well, I just rambled for a while and I don't know how much sense it makes but oh well...

I may have sounded a little grim about financial problems and I think no less of people that live a more fruitful life. It's just I feel compelled to comment because it seems that all too many people my age only care about is drinking, partying and notoriety for making relatively purposeless choices. I in no way was directing this specifically at true joker, my cousin as an example, he's a year older than me and he get's all the amenities of his parents hard work and well paying jobs, and I find this to be much too common among "middle class white families". Even if you can afford to gamble heavily on poker, it means nothing in the long term whether you win or lose money, it's about what we value as young people and what we can do to equalize the despairity between poor and wealthy.
Honestly and regretibly I'm a high school drop out, although it was due to a muscular disease I was born with I will still have to carve out a financial path for myself, and I have had a single mother all my life so I can't depend on family weatlh like others, I'm not even trying to sound pitiful because I feel I have a great life. But I know people out there have it 1,000 times worst than me, I mean I have an xbox 360 and internet, but everyday is a budget and hard work.
Maybe it's just Obama's speech last night that's got me thinking so much about the social and economic problems in america, but none the less it's got me thinking.
Maybe if everybody watched his speech and heard my opinion it would shed some light to the real issues we have to face as a generation that will be soley responsible for this countries future.
I know this has nothing to do with the league, but everyone in this league has a bigger part to play in creating a more equal future, and even something as little as talking about betting a thousand dollars at a casino makes me a little bitter, I'm sorry but that's just the way I am.
I just feel that money and power is too glorified and playing games online for me is an escape, but it's also a sad reflection of what's important in our culture.

A lot of that depends on the people you are around and the situation you are in. If you are a religious person, everyone is always happy, going to church, and praising god. My point is that different situations and different people have different goals and responsibilities. I do not think we are doomed, I know a lot of smart people trying to make the world better. I also know a lot of people who are wasting their life away.

I agree with this, I was the poor kid out of my middle class friends. They all had certain privlidges and money to do things I never could. I think that is parents either not having enough time or not caring enough, so they try to substitute love with money.

You seem to be smarter than the average drop-out. Get your GED, get into college, and make smart choices. As well as you are doing, someone is doing better/more, as bad as you are doing, someone is doing worse/less.

I am very fortunate to have the job I have. I am given a company car, credit card for gas and lunch. I'm not saying everyone should gamble and drink, I was just saying if you think Texas Holdem is boring try playing for big money and your thoughts would change. I'm 25 and yes I do drink, party, and gamble but I dont believe this makes me a bad guy or less of a catholic then anyone else because I like to have fun in that way. Family/friends always comes first in my life and if I have extra money to spend gambling then i'm gonna do what I enjoy doing. All you can do is enjoy life and do whatever makes you happy.

Obama is not the answer in my opinion..

Guys lets get back on track here. People can all live their lives as they wish and make decisions on their own. I know nobody was saying anything negative but we just dont want these boards to become people talking about stuff like this. This is a Madden league. Thanks Very Happy

Is there any possible way we could get a separate part of the boards for miscellaneous game discussion ? I think that would be the best way from keeping the boards cluttered without restricting them too much ...
